The Chat Aid web interface (Ask Chai) provides a powerful dashboard for asking questions, managing conversations, and accessing your company's knowledge base through any web browser.
Overview
Access Chat Aid through your web browser at app.chataid.com:
- Conversational Interface - Chat-style interface for asking questions
- Conversation History - Access and continue previous conversations
- Prompt Ideas - Get suggested questions to explore your data
- Multi-Source Search - Search company data, specific teams, or custom APIs
- Team Selection - Switch between different team knowledge bases
- Export Conversations - Save important conversations for later
Getting Started
Accessing the Web Dashboard
- Navigate to app.chataid.com
- Sign in with your company credentials
- The Ask Chai interface opens automatically
First-Time Users:
- You may see an onboarding tutorial
- Browse suggested prompt ideas to get started
- Try asking a simple question about your company
Interface Overview
The web interface consists of:
Left Sidebar:
- Conversation History - All your past conversations
- New Chat button - Start fresh conversation
- Search - Find specific past conversations
Main Panel:
- Question Input - Ask your questions here
- Conversation View - See questions and answers
- Source Citations - Click to view original sources
- Follow-Up Actions - Upvote, downvote, or get help
Top Bar:
- Team Selector - Switch between different teams
- Settings - Access your account settings
- Question Count - See remaining questions this month

💬 Conversational Interface
Ask questions naturally and get AI-powered answers:
How to Ask Questions:
- Type your question in the input box at the bottom
- Press
Enteror click the send button - Wait for Chat Aid to generate an answer
- Review the answer and source citations
Conversation Context:
- Chat Aid remembers your conversation context
- Ask follow-up questions without repeating information
- Reference previous answers: "Tell me more about that"
- Clarify or refine your questions iteratively
📚 Conversation History
All your conversations are automatically saved:
Accessing History:
- Click any conversation in the left sidebar
- Conversations are organized by date (Today, Yesterday, This Week, etc.)
- Search for specific conversations using the search box
Managing Conversations:
- Continue - Click a conversation to continue where you left off
- Rename - Hover over a conversation and click edit icon
- Delete - Remove conversations you no longer need
Search History:
- Type keywords in the search box
- Searches both questions and answers
- Results update in real-time

Get inspiration for questions to ask:
Company Wiki Prompts:
- Suggested questions based on your company's data
- Updated regularly based on new content
- Click any prompt to ask that question immediately
Accessing Prompt Ideas:
- Click Prompt Ideas in the interface
- Browse suggested questions
- Click any question to ask it
- Customize the question before sending
When to Use Prompt Ideas:
- Starting a new project and need background information
- Exploring what data Chat Aid has access to
- Learning about company policies or procedures
- Finding relevant documentation quickly
🎯 Team-Specific Search
Search data from specific teams:
Selecting a Team:
- Click the Team dropdown in the top bar
- Select the team you want to search
- All questions now search that team's data sources
Use Cases:
- Engineering team - Search technical documentation, code repos
- Sales team - Search customer data, sales playbooks
- HR team - Search policies, benefits information
- Marketing team - Search brand guidelines, campaign data
Select "Company Wiki" or "All Company Data" to search across all teams' data sources that you have access to.

Control where Chat Aid searches for answers:
Available Filters:
[wiki]- Search only company-wide indexed data[agent]- Force live data queries (Jira only)[ai]- Search the internet (if enabled for your organization)[action]- Execute tasks in connected apps (if Actions are enabled)
How to Use:
- Type the filter keyword in brackets
- Add your question after the filter
- Examples:

📊 Answer Feedback
Help improve Chat Aid's responses:
Thumbs Up 👍
- Answer was helpful and accurate
- Helps Chat Aid learn what works well
- No additional action required
Thumbs Down 👎
- Answer was not helpful or inaccurate
- Helps Chat Aid improve over time
- Opens feedback form to explain the issue
Ask Admin for Help:
- Click the three dots ⋮ on an answer
- Select Ask admin for help
- Admin receives notification in Slack
- Admin can respond directly in the same conversation thread
📤 Export and Share
Save conversations for later:
Copy Answer:
- Click the copy icon on any answer
- Paste into emails, documents, or Slack
Copy with Sources:
- Includes the answer text
- Adds source citations at the end
- Perfect for sharing context with others
Share Conversation:
- Some organizations may have sharing features enabled
- Check with your admin about conversation sharing policies
Advanced Features
Custom APIs
Execute custom workflows directly from the web interface:
If Enabled:
- Select Custom API from the dropdown
- Choose the specific API workflow
- Ask questions or execute commands
- Results appear in the conversation
Common Use Cases:
- Creating tickets in Jira or other systems
- Updating CRM records
- Querying databases
- Triggering custom automations
Widgets
Access custom widgets (admin users only):
Widget Selection:
- Click the dropdown menu
- Select Widgets
- Choose a specific widget configuration
- Questions use that widget's data sources
Use Cases:
- Test widget configurations before deploying
- Preview widget behavior
- Validate data sources and settings
Question Limits
Monitor your question usage:
Checking Remaining Questions:
- View count in the top-right corner
- Shows questions used / total questions
- Resets monthly based on your billing cycle
When Quota Is Low:
- Consider upgrading your plan
- Enable overage billing (if available)
- Purchase add-on questions
- See Billing and Plans for details
If you run out of questions, Chat Aid stops responding until your quota resets or you upgrade your plan.

Knowledge Discovery
Scenario: New employee needs to understand company processes
Steps:
- Browse Prompt Ideas for common onboarding questions
- Ask: "What are the main company values?"
- Follow up: "What is the code review process?"
- Save important conversations for reference
Documentation Search
Scenario: Need to find specific policy information quickly
Steps:

- Copy answer to share with team member who asked

- Chat Aid searches internal documentation, Slack channels, tickets
- Get answer with links to relevant troubleshooting guides
- If not resolved, use "Ask admin for help" for escalation

Always check source citations:
- Verify information is current
- Read more by clicking source links
- Check dates on documentation
- Compare multiple sources if conflicting
Troubleshooting
Page Not Loading
Problem: Web interface won't load
Solution:
- Check your internet connection
- Try refreshing the page
- Clear browser cache and cookies
- Try a different browser
- Contact support@chataid.com if issue persists
Conversations Not Saving
Problem: Conversation history is missing
Solution:
- Check that you're logged in
- Refresh the page
- Check if you're in the right team/org
- Contact support if conversations are lost
Slow Response Times
Problem: Chat Aid takes a long time to answer
Solution:
- Simplify your question
- Avoid asking multiple questions at once
- Check if many team members are using Chat Aid simultaneously
- Try again during off-peak hours
Wrong Answers
Problem: Chat Aid gives incorrect or irrelevant answers
Solution:
- Click thumbs down 👎 to provide feedback
- Try rephrasing your question more specifically
- Use
[wiki]filter to search only company data - Check if the data sources are up to date
- Use "Ask admin for help" for manual assistance
Can't Access Certain Teams
Problem: Some teams don't appear in the team selector
Solution:
- You may not have permissions for those teams
- Contact your admin to request team access
- Check Settings → Teams to see your memberships

Privacy and Security
Data Protection
- Encrypted: All communication is encrypted (HTTPS)
- Authenticated: Must be logged in to access
- Permissioned: Only see data you have access to
- Audit Trail: All questions logged for security
What Gets Stored
Stored:
- Your questions and conversation history
- Team and source selections
- Answer feedback (upvotes/downvotes)
Not Stored:
- Browser fingerprints
- Detailed behavioral analytics
- Data from other tabs or websites
