General Settings

General Settings allow company administrators to manage company-wide information, platform connections, and organizational preferences.

Overview

The General Settings page is where you configure:

  • Company profile (name, logo)
  • Platform connections (Slack, Microsoft Teams)
  • Header and footer customization for widgets
  • Company deletion (Danger Zone)

Accessing General Settings

  1. Navigate to Settings in the sidebar
  2. Select General under Company Settings
  3. Make your changes and save
Admin Only

Only company admins can access and modify General Settings.


Company Profile

Company Name

Update your company's display name as it appears throughout Chat Aid.

To change your company name:

  1. Go to Settings → General
  2. Click the edit icon next to your company name
  3. Enter the new name
  4. Click Save

The company name appears in:

  • Dashboard header
  • Chat responses
  • Email notifications
  • Team invitations

Upload a custom logo for your organization.

To update your logo:

  1. Go to Settings → General
  2. Click on the company logo or upload icon
  3. Select an image file (JPG, PNG, or SVG)
  4. The logo will update automatically

Logo requirements:

  • Recommended size: 200x200 pixels
  • Supported formats: JPG, PNG, SVG
  • Maximum file size: 5MB
  • Square or circular logos work best

Platform Connections

Slack Workspace

Connect or reconnect your Slack workspace to Chat Aid.

To connect Slack:

  1. Go to Settings → General
  2. Click Connect to Slack (or Reconnect if previously connected)
  3. Select your Slack workspace
  4. Authorize the requested permissions
  5. You'll be redirected back to Chat Aid

Connection status:

  • Connected - Your Slack workspace is active
  • ⚠️ Disconnected - Requires reconnection
  • Not Connected - No workspace linked

What happens after connection:

  • Chat Aid bot appears in your Slack workspace
  • You can add Chat Aid to channels
  • Users can send direct messages to Chat Aid
  • Data source training becomes available for Slack channels

Microsoft Teams

Connect or reconnect your Microsoft Teams workspace to Chat Aid.

To connect Teams:

  1. Go to Settings → General
  2. Click Connect to Microsoft Teams
  3. Sign in with your Microsoft 365 account
  4. Approve the requested permissions
  5. You'll be redirected back to Chat Aid

Note: Microsoft Teams integration may require approval from your IT administrator for certain permissions.

Customize the header and footer that appear in your Chat Aid widgets and embeds.

Header Configuration

Options:

  • Enable Header - Toggle to show/hide header
  • Header Text - Custom text to display
  • Background Color - Header background color
  • Text Color - Header text color

Use cases:

  • Display company name or branding
  • Show important announcements
  • Add context for widget users

Options:

  • Enable Footer - Toggle to show/hide footer
  • Footer Text - Custom text to display (supports links)
  • Background Color - Footer background color
  • Text Color - Footer text color

Use cases:

  • Link to privacy policy or terms
  • Display support contact information
  • Add disclaimer text

To save header/footer changes:

  1. Make your desired changes
  2. Click Save Header/Footer Settings
  3. Changes apply immediately to all widgets

Danger Zone

Delete Company

Critical Action

Deleting your company is permanent and cannot be undone. All data will be lost.

What gets deleted:

  • ✗ All users and their accounts
  • ✗ All teams and team data
  • ✗ All connected data sources
  • ✗ All trained documents and knowledge
  • ✗ All conversation history
  • ✗ All settings and configurations
  • ✗ All integrations and connections
  • ✗ All billing information

Who loses access:

  • All company members will lose access to Chat Aid
  • Invited users will no longer be able to join
  • External users will lose their accounts
  • All API keys will be revoked

How to Delete Your Company

Prerequisites:

  • You must be a company admin
  • Consider exporting any important data first
  • Inform all team members before deletion
  • Cancel any active subscriptions if needed

Steps:

  1. Navigate to SettingsGeneral
  2. Scroll down to the Danger Zone section
  3. Click Delete company
  4. Read the warning message carefully
  5. Confirm by clicking Delete in the modal

What happens after deletion:

  • Your company is immediately deleted
  • All users are logged out
  • All data is permanently removed
  • You'll be redirected to the signup page
  • You can create a new company if desired
Before Deleting

Consider these alternatives:

  • Pause usage - Stop training on data sources but keep your account
  • Remove users - Reduce your team size instead of deleting everything
  • Change plan - Downgrade to a free plan if cost is a concern
  • Export data - Download important information before deletion

Troubleshooting

Logo Upload Issues

Problem: Logo won't upload or appears incorrect

Solutions:

  1. Verify file meets size requirements (under 5MB)
  2. Use supported formats only (JPG, PNG, SVG)
  3. Try converting to a different format
  4. Ensure image isn't corrupted
  5. Try a smaller file size
